Dr. Melissa Arief is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon in Houston, Texas and has a Subspecialty Certificate in Surgery of the Hand at KSF Orthopaedic Center. She graduated with general and departmental honors from Vassar College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in biochemistry. Dr. Arief then earned a combined Medical Doctorate (MD) and Master of Health Science (MHS) degree, specializing in translational research at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. Dr. Arief completed her residency at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, New York. While attending SUNY Downstate, she presented numerous papers at annual meetings of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), American Academy of Hand Surgery (AAHS), and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery (AAOS). Dr. Arief received several awards for her work and had the honor of presenting the top paper at the ASSH meeting in San Francisco in 2014. She continued her education by completing a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at The Philadelphia Hand Center – which is affiliated with Thomas Jefferson University – where she trained with world-renowned hand surgeons in all of the latest surgical procedures and techniques.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Dr. Arief moved to Houston in 2016 to join KSF Orthopaedic Center, P.A.
