Dr. Ray M. Fitzgerald is a
Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and
native Houstonian. He graduated from the
University of Texas at Austin, and received his
medical degree from the
University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He completed both his internship and orthopaedic residency at the
University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He also spent two years in the
United States Air Force, serving as an
orthopaedic surgeon at
Carswell Air Force Base in Texas. He is a fellow of the
American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Fitzgerald has been in private practice in Houston since 1978. After he met
Drs. Kant and
Stuart, he decided to join
Dr. Fitzgerald specializes in knee and shoulder problems involving the cartilage and rotator cuff. He has a special interest in arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder. "The changes in
orthopaedic surgery have been very impressive," Dr. Fitzgerald says. "With the advance of technology, we can do more things in a less invasive fashion, which is very good for the patients."
Dr. Fitzgerald is a member of the
American Medical Association, the
Texas Medical Association, the
Harris County Medical Society, the
Texas Orthopaedic Association, the
Houston Orthopaedic Society, the
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the
Alamo Orthopaedic Society, the
Texas Society of Sports Medicine, the
International Arthroscopy Association, and the
Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Dr. Fitzgerald and his wife are the parents of three children. They live in North Houston. His
hobbies include snow skiing, golf, hunting and mountain biking.
