Dr. Michael George is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from
Case Western Reserve
University in Cleveland, Ohio, where he also played linebacker on the
football team. He then earned his medical degree at Case Western
Reserve University and later completed his Orthopaedic Surgery
residency training at the
University of Cincinnati. Dr. George went on
to obtain additional fellowship training in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine
and Shoulder Surgery at
Vanderbilt University where he gained extensive
experience in advanced shoulder and knee surgery. Dr. George was one of the first doctors in Houston to earn the Subspecialty Certification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.
Dr. George
specializes in shoulder and knee surgery, advanced arthroscopic surgery
of the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle, arthroscopic rotator cuff
repair, arthroscopic shoulder stabilization, anterior cruciate ligament
reconstruction, multiligament knee reconstruction, total shoulder
replacement and total knee replacement. He sees patients at both the
Willowbrook and Red Oak office locations.
Dr. George has given presentations locally and nationally and is a Clinical Instructor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas at Houston. He is also the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. His research has been published extensively in multiple orthopaedic journals and he was voted as one of Houston’s Top Doctors by H Texas Magazine. He is a reviewer for the journal Arthroscopy and the American Journal of Sports Medicine. Dr. George is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Sports Medicine/Arthroscopy Program Subcommittee and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine Self Assessment Committee.
Dr. George is a team physician for the Houston
Livestock Show and Rodeo as a member of the Justin Sports Medicine
Team. He has been a team physician for the Texas Copperheads
professional Arena 2 Football team, Vanderbilt University, Belmont
University in Nashville, the Nashville Sounds AAA Baseball team,
Collegiate Rodeo, and High School Football.
Like his colleagues at KSF, Dr.
George believes in trying all non-operative treatments before
recommending surgery. He spends the extra time to explain all the
options to his patients so they can make the most informed decisions.
Dr. George is a member of the
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery,
Arthroscopy Association of North America,
American Orthopaedic Society
for Sports Medicine,
Harris County Medical Society,
Texas Medical Association, and the Vanderbilt
Orthopaedic Society. Dr. George and his wife Libby, who is an
Emergency Medicine Physician, live in Northwest Houston. Dr. George
enjoys golf, tennis, basketball and skiing.
