Dr. Taylor Lewis Joins KSF Orthopaedic Center

As KSF Orthopedic Center of Houston, Texas continues to grow, we want to introduce Anesthesiologist and Chronic Pain Management specialist, Dr. Taylor Lewis. “I’m excited to join the group and bring in my area of expertise to help round out a very successful and multidisciplinary practice”, states Dr. Lewis.

Tell us a little about yourself

“I completed my anesthesia training in the Texas Medical Center at the University of Texas, Houston. I went on to complete a year of chronic pain management fellowship at the prestigious MD Anderson Cancer Center (also located in the Texas Medical Center). This year of fellowship provided me not just with a broad-based approach to chronic pain management patients, but also a small niche in the area of patients with cancer-associated pain and chronic pain associated with cancer treatments- such as chemotherapy, radiation, or large surgeries. “

What is your approach to chronic pain management?

Physical activity, conservative medication therapy, and interventional methods all help Dr. Lewis to take a ‘10,000-foot view’ and have a very multifaceted approach. “What I mean by that is I encourage my patients to stay active through physical therapy, home exercise programs, stretching, and yoga.”

Dr. Lewis utilizes conservative medication therapy, such as anti-inflammatories, anti-nerve medications, and if needed, low dose opiates. “I Also [treat] with interventional methods, such as back injections, epidurals, radiofrequency ablations, spinal cord stimulation”. He likes to use a combination of all these different treatment modalities so that we can tailor the most specific plan to a particular patient and find out which areas are working best for them.  Honing in on the area and continuing to make changes as needed  helps ultimately improve functionality more so than pain.

Welcome to KSF!

The physicians and staff at KSF Orthopaedic Center are thrilled to welcome Dr. Lewis to the practice. His unique approach to chronic and cancer-related pain management bring a new level of expertise to the Houston community. “I’m excited to get to meet everybody and we hope to see you soon.”
