About the Provider

Dr. Dean was born in Houston and graduated from Cy-Fair high school. He played football at Austin college in Sherman, Texas. He then obtained a PhD in Zoology at the University of Texas at Austin before attending medical school at the University of Texas at Houston. He graduated with honors. He then did his 5 year orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He has been in practice with KSF Orthopedic Center since finishing in 1989. He was fortunate to train in the early days of arthrosopy when most surgeries were still done open. He has extensive experience in both open and arthroscopic surgery. Although he does mainly knee and shoulder surgery has been trained in arthroscopy of all joints and has done ankle, wrist and elbow arthroscopy in the past. He has been active as both college and high school athletic teams for many years.

He has a unique perspective for orthopedic patients having had successful total and partial knee replacements as well as 2 spine surgeries all done by KSF orthopedic surgeons at our surgical hospital-TOPS. He understands the postoperative experience as a patient and is able to truly give patients a realistic idea of what to expect.

He has been married for over 45 years with 3 children and 6 grandchildren. He enjoys reading, golf, woodworking, and spending time with family.
